Please follow the tips I give you on each point to make your life more disease free. Take one habit at a time and don’t try to correct everything at once or you overwhelm yourself.
Okay so let’s start with the first healthy eating fact.
The 11 Healthy Eating Facts That Improve Your Health
1. Don't Eat Late or At Irregular Times
Your body follow the rhythm of the sun. Believe it or not, humans came from cave dwellers. Even if you live in the city, you still can’t change your original inheritance.
Eat breakfast early in the morning, no later than 8 am. Both breakfast and dinner should be the lightest meals.
The digestive function is at its lowest during these times. Have your biggest meal during lunch time when the sun is at it’s highest point.
Eating at irregular times is an error many people make. Your body needs to digest the food before it can take advantage of it. If you snack between meals, you interfere with the digestive process.
Think about it; if some gave you a stack of paper to do then, that would take certain hours to complete. If they then added other tasks in between, then that would mess with the workflow and create chaos.
Your body need between 30 minutes- 3 hours to digest fruits and vegetables. If you eat meat, then this task can take up to five hours. Give your body time to absorb the food.
Eat at similar times each day. If you mix up the hours all the time, then your body have a hard time adjusting.
Would you like if your employer changed your working hours all the time? No, because it messes with your planning and private life.
Also, don’t eat after 7 pm. Every shop keeps open certain hours before they quit for the day. Your body is no different. After 7 pm, the body will not digest food anymore and focuses on other tasks.
When Denzel Washington had to gain weight for a role, do you know what he did? He ate late night snacks.
Takeaway
- Eat a light breakfast and dinner
- Eat the biggest meal during lunch
- Follow a regular food schedule and wait some hours between each meal
- Don’t eat later than 7 pm
Okay here is another mistake people make when eating food.
2. Avoid Drinking With The Meal
Drinking with the meal is a common mistake that the majority of people make. When you eat food your body uses enzymes to break it down.
If you add water to the meal, you dilute the concentrated enzyme solution. Making the body worse at absorbing the food.
Have you added too much liquid when you cooked food? The whole dish tasted bland. Or have you added water to cleaning solvents to make the solution weaker?
When you drink with the meal, you create the same effect. Excessive liquids during meals can lead to bloating, indigestion, and even nutrient malabsorption.
Takeaway
- Don’t drink during the meal or one hour after it
- Avoid drinking any liquid 30 minutes before the meal
So now that we clarified that let’s discover another eating habit that causes upset for the body.
3. Don't Mix Certain Foods Together
Some foods don’t mix well together like water and oil. Combining fruits and vegetables are a common mistake people make. The body uses different enzymes when digesting fruits or vegetables.
Would you do a great job if your boss gave you two completely different tasks to do? Of course not. The best thing to improve productivity is to do similar tasks in each given moment. So if you write a blog, then you focus only on writing and don't mix it with design work.
Your body is the same. Eat fruits on an empty stomach. If you want to eat fruit, make a fruit salad in the morning. Don’t mix fruits with vegetables.
The only exception to this is if you use citrus fruits which are alkalizing as vegetables are. Adding an apple to your green juice is not going to kill you. Drinking some green juices with apples can make it easier to swallow.
Other Bad food combinations:
- Mixing dried sweet fruit, honey, maple syrup or bananas with nuts or seeds
- Mixing starch foods with fresh or acid foods or fruits
- Mixing dried sweet fruits with acid fruits.
- Eating dried sweet fruits with or after concentrated proteins

The next health fact is something I didn't know about for years.
4. Why You You Should Eliminate Vegetable Oils
Heating vegetable oils form free radicals in the body. Free radicals are the way the body rusts. Vegetable oils are processed food and should be eliminated from your diet. Even cold-pressed oil is bad for your health.
Oils extracted from example from the seeds of corn, soybeans, safflowers, flax or olives are no longer food.
Vegetable oils can damage the arteries and lead to heart disease.
Some of the oils on the market are:
- Canola Oil
- Soybean Oil
- Sunflower Oil
- Cottonseed Oil
- Margarine
- Fake butter substitutes
- Corn Oil
- Peanut Oil
- Safflower Oil
- Grapeseed Oil
- Shortening
- Olive oil
- Coconut oil
The best thing you can do is to avoid vegetable oils altogether.
Some simple tricks to cooking without oils are to use water instead of oil. Or steam your vegetables.
Replace oils with whole foods, olives instead olive oil, coconut oil with coconut, or nuts instead of oils.
Another great solution is to buy a waterless cookware. In a waterless cookware, you cook the vegetables in their liquid. You prepare the vegetables at a lower temperature and thus lose fewer minerals. Buy them here.
Takeaway
- Avoid vegetable oils as they create free radicals and bad health
- Replace oils with water, steam your vegetables or buy a waterless cookware.
Did you know all this before? The next healthy eating fact is something many people break and ruin their health.
5. Why You Should Avoid Eating Animal Products
Animal foods are the worst things you can feed your body. I’ve talked about this subject in my previous blog post here. The human body is not built to eat meat. The gastric acid in humans is 1/20 as potent compared to carnivores like lions or tigers.
Most animal protein will pass undigested into the small intestine. The protein will then putrefy or enter the blood stream.
Avoid all animal products. They are one of the most acid forming foods there is. Scientific studies show that vegetarians are healthier than omnivores and have less cancer.
If your want to be healthy and recover from cancer, then ditching animal foods are one of the best things you can do.
Takeaway
- Avoid eating any animals products like meat, milk, and cheese
- Eat more vegetables and let it be your primary diet
Are you always eating in a rush? If you do, then read the next section carefully.
6. Why You Shouldn't Eat When You're in A Rush
The modern city dweller is often a person with a sandwich in one hand and coffee in the next. They are often running in a frenzied state and can't enjoy their food.
Not taking your time to relax when you eat eject stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol into your blood stream. These stress hormones interfere with the digestive system.
To make the best use of your food sit down when you eat. Your body can ingest the food better if you sit down while eating. Try to chew and enjoy the taste of the food and be present when you eat.
When you take your time to eat, the enzymes in the saliva make the food more digestible.
Avoid using a microwave when you prepare your food. Microwaves destroy the molecular structure of the food and make it useless. Another bad thing about microwaving your food is that you become stressed out before you eat.
Before I quit microwaving food, I felt impatient when I had to wait 2 minutes for the food to be ready. When you expect your dinner to be ready in an instant, you take this mentality with you when you eat. It was not unusual for me to finish my tv-dinners in the same amount of time it took to cook it.
It wasn’t after I learned to cook that I noticed how much stress you feel when you microwave. When you have to prepare food the slow way you become more patient and feel less tension.
If you want to reheat food, then use the oven or a saucepan. Rewarming using in a pan takes a little more time than microwaving food but is a lot healthier.
Buy a thermos food jar to eat a warm meal without needing the microwave.
Just one last important point. Wait five minutes before you leave the table after you finished the meal. If you get up just before you finish your meal, you only add stress to the body.
Stress then make the food less absorbable. When I first tried this trick, I became a lot calmer. Try it yourself.
Takeaway
- Avoid using the microwave and cook your food on the stove or oven
- If you need to bring your food from home, then buy a thermos food jar
- Sit down when you eat and take your time
- After each meal wait five minutes before you leave the table
- Sit down when you eat and take your time
- After each meal wait five minutes before you leave the table
The next thing I'm going to talk about is something I have been guilty of breaking numerous times.
7. Avoid Overeating and Eat to Only 80% Full
I’m guilty of making this mistake many times. When you are at a buffet or there is a party it's easy to gorge too much.
The inhabitants in Okinawa, Japan are one of the longest living humans on the earth. One of their secrets to long longevity is only to eat to between 70-80% full. When you stop eating when you feel a little bit hungry, you absorb the food better.
Your body is like a computer. If you run too many programs that consume all the resources, then it will become sluggish. But if you limit the amount of programs you run then your computer will not be as slow.
Every time I eat too much food, I always feel like an old man. My breathing becomes heavier, and I feel exhausted, compared to when I don't overeat.
So the next time you eat, stop when you feel a little bit hungry.
Takeaway
- Eat until you are 70-80% full and leave some space left
The next healthy eating fact is something few people know about.
8. Soak grains, beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds
Soaking grains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds is a traditional practice. It improves the nutritional quality of these foods.
Grains, beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds can all add great value and variety to the diet. They contain anti-nutrients, like phytates and enzyme inhibitors which detract their nutritive value.
Anti-nutrient binds up minerals preventing your body from absorbing them.
Phytic acid is something that vegetables use to fend off predators. It is thus a good practice to soak your food overnight to reduce the ill effect.
Other useful methods to prepare foods besides soaking are to sprouting or souring.
Takeaway
- Soak your grains, beans, legumes, nuts and seeds overnight before cooking
Let’s continue with the next blunder that the majority of people make.
9. Avoid Eating Gluten
Gluten is present in numerous products but especially in wheat. Wheat is not the same product it was hundreds of years ago. The wheat we eat today is bleached and processed in a way that makes it indigestible.
Gluten becomes like glue in the intestines and inhibits the absorption of minerals from the food.
Try not to eat any wheat products for two weeks. After the test period do you feel better? If you do then continue to avoid it.
Takeaway
- Wheat can make you tired and sluggish and hinder your body from absorbing minerals from the food.
- Try not do eat any gluten products for two weeks and see if you feel any better. If you do then continue to avoid gluten.
The next thing I'm going to talk about is something cancer patients need to follow.
10. Avoid Eating White Sugar Like The Plague
Your body runs on sugar and to cut it out from your diet is almost impossible. Sugars from whole foods like vegetables and starches are beneficial for you. However processed sugar like white sugar is another story.
White sugar is a processed food that has little nutritional value and raises the blood sugar level. Manufacturers bleach and process the sugar and make it an entirely different product from its raw state.
Remove it from your diet. Warning, sweeteners like Aspartame and corn syrup are as bad or worse than sugar. If you want to sweeten your food, then use Stevia or Xylitol.
Takeaway
- White sugar is a toxic substance that you need to cut out from your diet, especially if you have cancer
- Avoid artificial sweeteners like Aspartame and corn syrup as they as bad or worse than sugar
- Use healthy sweeteners like Xylitol or Stevia.
So you have come to the last vital, healthy eating fact that you need to know about to evade disease.
11. Stop Eating Processed Food
Every processed food is bad for your health. Processed food include pre-packaged, preserved, refined, microwavable and tinned foods. Avoid foods that have a long shelf life, are take away, fast, meat, dairy, and frozen.
Other things to avoid are cakes, chips, burgers, tinned soup, granola- or chocolate bars. Pasta, ice cream, and white bread are other things to look out for. Also, avoid processed or fried oils, saturated animal fats, hydrogenated oils and trans fats.
Processed food are acidic in nature and lowers your bodies ph-levels to dangerous levels.
Takeaway

- Avoid any processed food from your diet and eat fresh food
