Why You Should Start Juicing For Cancer

Juicing for cancer is an excellent aid in dealing with this disease. When you have cancer, your body can't absorb nutrients from the food as easy.

Juicing is a way to get all the nutrition you need in liquid form.

Chris at chrisbeatcancer.com and others used it as their secret weapon to defeat cancer.

Let me share Ralph’s amazing survival story.

Ralph Cole´s Cancer Juicing Miracle

In 2005  Ralph Cole got neck cancer. The doctors told him that he needed surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. A friend´s wife advised him to drink carrot juice after she had cured herself of ovarian cancer.

He started juicing three pounds(1.5 kg) of carrots a day, which yielded about 3 cups(7 dl). At the same time, he was doing chemotherapy and radiation.

The conventional therapies didn’t make the tumors shrink.

He stopped juicing and shortly after tiny lumps began appearing one at a time in two rows on his chest. When he started juicing again, no new bumps appeared.

He continued to drink juice in the morning and increased it to five pounds(2.5 kg) of carrots per day. Yielding around 5 cups( 1.1 liters) of liquid.

The visible chest lumps began to shrink almost immediately. Ralph continued to juice the same amount for two months. The tumors shrank over the next two months and disappeared. He juiced for another month then stopped.

Now he is free from cancer since 2006.

Fascinating right? But the next cancer survivor story is even better.

How Ann Survived Colon Cancer with Juicing

On June 6, 2012, Ann Cameron had surgery for Stage III colon cancer. She declined chemotherapy. Six months later a CT scan showed probable cancer in her lungs.

The oncologist said that the colon cancer metastasized to the lungs.

She read Ralph´s story and decided to drink carrot juice every day.

The only dietary changes she made was to juicing carrots. Meat, ice cream, and other unhealthy foods were still part of her diet.

She had no chemo, radiation or other treatments.

The tumors stopped growing and shrunk after eight weeks.

Four months after drinking carrot juice, all the lymph nodes in her lungs returned to normal.

After eight months there was no sign of cancer anywhere in her body.

Juicing is the Gerson Therapy’s secret weapon in dealing with cancer. Learn how they use it to help cancer patients.

How Gerson Therapy Treats Cancer With Juices

Max Gerson developed the Gerson therapy in 1928. It's a dietary-based alternative cancer treatment. At first, he used his therapy as a treatment for migraine headaches but later tried it on cancer.

Juices are a critical aspect of his treatment. They provide most vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytochemicals and other essential nutrients for healing.

The typical patient will ingest 13 glasses per day, which counts to 104 ounces(3 liter) of juice. Equal to almost seventeen pounds(7.7 kg) of food per day.

Patients who have cancer almost always have a difficulty digesting and absorbing food. As a result, this can lead to toxicity and malfunction of the digestive system. A decrease in stomach acid production is one other common problem.

Dr. Gerson’s clinical testing showed that fresh raw juice provided the highest quality nutrition. And at the same being the easiest and most efficient way of absorbing nutrients.

Now let’s learn how juicing works and how you can use it against cancer.

How Juicing Works

In juicing, a machine separates the pulp from the liquid in vegetables or fruits. There are several types of techniques in doing this. See below for different styles of juicers.

It would be hard to eat 2 pounds(1 kg) of carrots on its own. But if you make juice out of it, is much easier to consume all those carrots.

Slow juicer

A slow juicer grinds the produce to juice

Your body can take up the nutrition in the juice within minutes.

Because you separate the pulp, you can get more nutrients per serving than eating food alone. How many essential nutrients will be in the juice depends on how efficient the juicer is.

When you juice, it is best to make juices out of vegetables as they have the best effect and give you more energy. Fruit extracts create a sugar spike. But the energy boost can disappear faster making you feel hungry again after only a couple of hours.

Why You Should Avoid Fruit Juices

Fruits are more acidic in nature than vegetables. Avoid drinking pure fruit juices especially if your body is already acidic.

Some fruits are alkalizing when consumed but acidic outside the body. Lemons, lime, and grapefruits are some good examples. You can add them in juices without a problem. Avoid other fruits if you can.

Try not to mix vegetables with fruits as the body uses different enzymes to digest them. However, one or two apples are usually okay with vegetable as they make the drink taste better.

Many green drinks are not that tasty, so adding an apple can make it easier to swallow.

The best kind of plants to use against cancer should be vegetables that are alkalizing. To learn more about alkaline vegetables, please read ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿this post.

So what is the best vegetables that have the best anti-cancer effect on the body? Find out below.

The Best Anti-Cancer Juice Ingredients

Your body can either be alkaline or acidic. To be healthy, you should aim for a pH-level of 7.3 which is a bit more alkaline.

Alkaline foods include kale, spinach, and many leafy greens. Cruciferous vegetables are other alkaline vegetables. Some examples are broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, daikon, collard greens and more.

Because juices don’t have any fiber, you can only use it by itself for 60-90 straight days. After that, you need to eat regular food.

Juicing has a good detoxing impact on the body. If you have a hard time eating because of chemo or other toxic treatments, then juicing can help. If you're overweight and constipated then juicing can be your lifesaver.

Several factors influence the quality of the juice. These include oxygen in the air, heat production, and foaming.

Enzyme activity is a superb way to measure the degradation during juice extraction. It tells you how much life is still in the juice.

I bet you got a lot of questions already. Here are some common questions about juicing.

Can You Store Juices?

Juices should be drunken right away if possible. The nutrition in the liquid may degrade the longer you wait. Oxidation is the main culprit in diminishing the enzymes in the juice.

Centrifugal juicers destroy the juices the fastest. If you drink the juice immediately than even centrifugal juicers, can be okay.

If you have to store juice to drink later in the day, the best practice is to use air tight glass bottles or mason jars. Leave as little air as possible at the top, and keep it in the fridge.

Mason jars

You can store juices in air tight mason jars

Another trick is to add lemon juice as citric acid can slow the degradation of the juice

Should You Use Organic or Inorganic Vegetables?

You should use organic vegetables to protect yourself from pesticides and other chemicals. There is a debate going whether organic foods have more nutrients than inorganic food.

Scientific results show mixed results. But some studies say that organic foods contain more antioxidants than nonorganic foods.

If organic foods are too expensive for you, then try to buy them from the local farmer’s market. Or grow your vegetables.

If you can’t afford organic foods, then the best way is to clean and wash the vegetables thoroughly.

A lot of the pesticides are in the fiber of the fruits and veggies. When juicing, you separate the fiber from the juice and discard the contaminated part.

Another way to save money is to make a smoothie out of organic produce.

How to Clean Nonorganic Vegetables & Fruits

  • Clean the food by using lemon, vinegar, and salt
  • Cut off the tops, tails, and peel the skins of the produce

Another tip is to mix non-organic with organic food.

At ewg.org they update their list of pesticides in vegetables and fruits every year. They have the dirty dozen and clean fifteen lists.

Avoid buying non-organic from the dirty dozen list below.

Dirty Dozen List

And only buy non-organic from the 15 clean list.

Clean 15 List

So, let us say that you make a glass of juice with celery(dirty list) and cabbage(clean list). Then buy organic celery and use non-organic cabbage.

What’s the Difference Between Juices and Smoothies?

Juices have no pulp or fiber and give you pure liquid with a high concentration of nutrients. Smoothies use a high-speed blender like Vitamix to make a thicker and filling drink.

There is no separation between the fiber and the crop. It is not as nutrient dense as other juices. You become full on a less amount of vegetables and fruits.

Okay so I might have convinced you to start juicing, but which juicer should you buy? To save you time I made a list of the most common juicers on the market. Find out which one is the best for you below.

Big Juicer Buying Guide

Centrifugal Juicers

The centrifugal juicers shred the crop by using a spinning disk that rotates at high speed. This juicer can make a drink in minutes, but because of the fast spinning disk, lots of oxidation occurs.

The liquid becomes separated, and you get a lot of foam. Deterioration happens more rapid and turns the drink brown only after one hour.

Centrifugal juicer

Centrifugal juicer

These juicers sound like a jet engine taking off, and the disk can spin between 3000 rpm or up.

You can buy one cheap, as many brands are competing against each other. Making it easy to find a bargain.

The yield is not as impressive as slow juicers. The pulp is quite wet and doesn't manage leafy greens well. It works best for beets, carrots and other hard vegetables. Big brands are Breville and Phillips.

Prices range between 40-300$

Slow Juicers

Slow juicers are, you guessed it, slow! You usually have to chop the produce before inserting it into the feeder. The key is to work at a slow pace. Otherwise, you can clog the juicer and make it turn off.

A batch takes about 10 minutes from start to finish, and you need more time than traditional juicers. It’s not for people that don't have any patient or are busy in the morning.

Slow juicers use a grinder that spins at 40-80 rpm and squeezes out the juice rather than shredding it. The yield is usually better than centrifugal juicers. As a result of the slower speed, less oxidation occurs.

Slow juicer

Vertical Slow Juicer

Thus you can store the juice up to 24 hours in the fridge before going bad. No separation happen as with centrifugal juicers.

Slow juicers come from Korea. There is more development going on with these kinds of juicers. Centrifugal juicers have been stalling for quite some time now.

Vertical vs Horizontal Slow Juicer

There are two main types of slow juicers.

Some are vertical style and are suitable for common vegetables.  But they're not good at juicing leafy green by itself. Hence, they need other hard vegetables like beets or carrots to push through the leafy greens.

Horizontal slow juicers are excellent for leafy greens. They are the only juicers that can juice wheatgrass.

Horizontal Slow Juicer

Horizontal Slow Juicer

What type of slow juicer you should buy depends on what you want to drink. If you want to do pure leafy green juices, then horizontal juicers are the best ones. Otherwise, a vertical juicer should be okay.

Be aware that there can be more pulp in slow juicers. So you have to strain it if you don't like the extra fiber.

Slow juicers are more expensive than centrifugal juicers. Prices usually start at around 400$.

If you can afford the slow juicers, Omega is the leading brand.

The Angel Juicer is the Roll´s Roys of slow juicers.

This juicer completely outperforms similar juicers. It can squeeze every last drop out of vegetables and is excellent with leafy greens. But performance comes at a hefty price of 890$ or more.

Hydraulic Press

You first shred the vegetables and then put them in a cloth and use the hydraulic press to use a force of several tons. There is little or no oxidation, which is why the Gerson Institute recommends them. They can be 50% more efficient than other juicers.

The Norwalk juicer is one such device. It is two machines in one. There is a triturator, on the left side which cuts and grinds any food.

On the right side, the hydraulic press extracts the juice from the first step. Some foods only need the press like pineapple. Others you need to cut first and then squeeze.

Hydraulic press

Hydraulic press

Prepare to pay as much as 2500$.

A cheaper way is to use a Welles or Peoples Juice Press by Samson Brands. It has a hydraulic press as a Norwalk,  but don’t have a shredder. You have to use it by hand.

They usually cost around 400$. You can use a Samson slow juicer to shred the vegetables. And then take the pulp in the Welles Press to extract every last drop of the juice. The cost for the Samson + Welles is a fraction of The Norwalk Juicer.

Maybe you got more confused by all the options mentioned above. But number one question remains. Which juicer should you buy?

Which Juicer Should You Get?

There is no perfect juicer. Every juicer has its pros and cons. Several aspects affect your buying decision. These include the quantity and quality of the juice, ease of use and the time required. Other important things to consider is how easy it is to clean and price.

If you don’t have much money and want your juice fast, then a centrifugal juicer is the best choice. To get juice with higher quality, then a vertical or horizontal juicer might be a better choice.

But only if you're willing to spend more money. These juicers take longer to juice and can be a hassle to clean as they can have more parts.

If you want to have the best enzyme content and yield than a two-step triturator/press is the best. The Norwalk juicer or the Wells People’s Press are some examples. Only buy them if you're dedicated as these processes take more work and time.

So the question is, which juicer produces the best juice against cancer?  Find out below.

Which Juicer Produces The Best Juice?

Michael Donaldson is a Ph.D. at the Hallelujah Acres Foundation. He conducted an analysis of the extraction and nutrition content in several commercial juicers.

The test included Wells People´s Press, Norwalk, Juiceman Jr., Omega, Juiceman 2, and Champion. Green Life(now The Green Star Juicer) and Le Equip were other juicers tested.

The two-step trituration/press was the best method for extracting fresh juice.

Green Life, a slow horizontal juicer was the next best extractor. With the Champion and Omega following. The centrifugal juice extractors were last.

These juicers still produced enzyme-containing juice. But it had lower quality than the other juicers.

According to the test, the best results came from merging the Champion and the People’s Press. Using the Champion as a grinder and the People’s Press to squeeze the shredded produce.
