Simon: Every being on earth has its perfect diet. We know that lions and cats thrive when they eat meat. And cows and horses feel better when they eat grass.
We know that when we go to the gas station, our car needs a certain fuel, such as diesel or gasoline. If we put the wrong type of gas in the car, then it will start to malfunction. So I heard a story of a guy that accidentally put the wrong type of fuel in his car and the car didn't work after that.
We also know that American electric devices use 120 volts and Europe 220 volts. One time I tried to use my flatbed scanner. It was an HP device. One time I didn't find the adapter. But finally, after searching for some minutes, I finally found an adapter that fit the socket.
I turned on the scanner, and it made some buzzing sounds for some seconds, and then it stopped working. And when I looked at the adapter, it was another brand. After that, the scanner never worked again, and I had to buy a new one.
When you buy a phone and read the instruction manual, they tell you how you should use the device. You need to use the right charger and battery. But if you use fake ones, then they are not obligated to fix your phone.
We know that our car needs a certain fuel and that our electric devices need to use the right plug or battery and that cows need to grass and lions meat. But when it comes to our diet, many people are clueless. There are many opinions on the perfect human diet.
Some say we need a keto diet. Other say that we need to be vegan or vegetarian or that we need to eat all kinds of food.
When I tried to find the best diet for cancer, it was really confusing and frustrating. But after I did many hours of research, I think I have found the perfect diet for humans. I believe we are not meant to eat meat and that we are herbivores.
So when I looked at the scientific research, I found that when you eat animal products, you become more sick, and the reason for that is because we are herbivores and shouldn't eat animal products. I looked at a presentation from Dr. Milton Mills. He's an expert on this topic.
So according to Milton Mills, there are stunning differences between carnivores and humans. Carnivores like lions have sharp claws that they need to catch prey and kill it.
But if you look at your hand, you have no claws. Instead we have nails and fingers that are perfect for grabbing and picking up fruits and vegetables. And if you look at carnivores, they have an instinct to kill and have special abilities where they can hear certain frequencies that we can't.
When a cat sees a mouse, it gets excited and wants to kill it. But when many people see a rat, they become disgusted and don't want to have anything to do with it.
I remember one time in seventh grade in biology when we had to dissect an octopus or squid. I don't remember. There were two girls that didn't want to do it and were disgusted by it. Many people are afraid of blood.
If we are meant to eat meat, then we shouldn't have an emotional block hindering us from killing animals. It would be disastrous for a cat if it was afraid of hunting.
If you look at carnivores' teeth, you can see that they have large canines, that they need to rip apart prey. Our canines are much smaller, and our teeth are better at chewing food.
And if you compare our jaws, you can see that when carnivores eat, their mouth can only go up and down because they need to eat meat and the best way is to use a chopping movement. And if you look at humans, we chew our food side to side like a cow because that's the best way to eat fiber-rich food.
Carnivores also have a much bigger stomach because they only eat once a week, while we have a small stomach and need to eat every day. Carnivores' stomach is also more acidic, between 1-2 pH, while humans have a pH between 4-5.
Carnivores also have short intestines so that they can get rid of the rotten flesh fast. And we have long intestines like a rabbit because you need long intestines to digest fiber.
Carnivores like cats, also have fat and protein receptors on their tongue, but we don't. If you don't use any seasoning, meat doesn't taste anything. I remember one time when I lived together in a community, and every day one person made food for everyone.
One person used to make chicken once a week, but he never used any spices. So the meat didn't taste anything. Carnivores also thrive on meat while we feel better when we eat a lot of starch, vegetables, and fruits.
If you look at the science, it's clear that the more animal products that we eat, the more cancer and other diseases we develop. One thing in meat that can increase our cancer risk is insulin growth factor one or IGF-1. It's a cancer promoting growth hormone which is more present in animal products.
We need IGF-1 to grow when we're kids, but as we become older, we don't need it as much. So, therefore, excess IGF-1 can increase your cancer risk.
Another problematic substance in meat is heterocyclic amines, HCAs. It's formed when we cook the meat. Another thing that can increase our cancer risk in animal products is heme-iron. There are two types of iron, heme iron, and non-heme iron.
Heme iron comes from animal products, while non-heme iron comes from plants. Heme iron can increase our risk of colorectal cancer, while non-heme iron doesn't have that effect.
Other problematic things in meat include cholesterol and saturated fat. Our body creates cholesterol every day in our liver. So there's nothing bad about cholesterol.
Your body needs it, but too much cholesterol from our diet can cause problems. When your cholesterol goes over a certain limit, then that can increase our risk for cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Saturated fat is also bad for us. There's a lot of saturated fat in animal products and almost nothing in vegetables.
So it's not only the animal products that are bad but also the processed food that we eat in the Standard American Diet. Another thing that we shouldn't consume is dairy. Milk has a lot of IGF-1, fat, and hormones that the cow needs to grow quickly.
If you compare human milk with cow's milk, there's a lot of difference. Cow's milk has a lot more calories and protein than human milk. And if you look around the world, nations that consume more dairy have more osteoporosis, which means that they have fragile bones and often break the bones more than countries that don't consume that much dairy.
Africa has less cancer than the west. America, where they eat a lot of animal products, dairy, and processed food is in the red zone for developing cancer. And if you look at Japan, they eat a lot of rice and starchy vegetables and very little meat, and they have less cancer than the United States.
You could argue that they have less cancer because of their superior genes. But if you look at studies where Asian people move to America and use their diet, they also develop the same diseases.
The longest living people on earth eat a primary starch-based diet. Starch is a white powder in rice, potatoes, corn, and oats that these plants use to store energy.
T. Colin Campbell made a famous study in the 1980s called the China Study. He looked at the diet of different counties in China. And he found out that people that ate more animal products had more cancer than vegetarians.
I believe that the best diet to avoid cancer is a whole food plant-based diet. It's a diet where you eat unrefined or minimally refined plants, based on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans.
Eating a plant-based diet is not healthy if it's processed. When you eat processed food, you remove the nutrients from that food. Some examples are white sugar, soy protein isolate, and vegetable oils.
There are three types of macronutrients that we need to be healthy. We need carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Carbohydrates are made of glucose, or sugar and come from vegetables, and are the body's preferred energy source. About 80% of your diet should come from carbohydrates.
Protein should be about 10% of your diet. Many people believe that we need to eat a lot of protein to be healthy. And that's why many people are reluctant to eat vegetables,
And the reason for that is that many believe that plants don't have enough protein, but that's not true. Only plants can create protein.
Your fat intake should be as low as possible, around 10%. It's not possible to avoid fat altogether, and we need some fat to thrive. But the problem is when we eat too much fat, especially from animal products and processed foods.
Fat slows down our blood flow and blocks glucose, and that's the main reason why so many people have diabetes. It's not caused by carbohydrates, but rather the fat.
When you eat fat, the body stores the fat and that's the reason why you become obese, and obesity increases our risk for cancer. Therefore you shouldn't consume so much fat.
In this episode, you learned that you should eat a plant-based diet to lower your risk of cancer. Therefore you should focus on eating more plants and avoid meat, dairy, oils, and processed food.
If you want to learn more about eating a nutritious plant-based diet, then you should read the Ultimate Cancer Diet and Nutrition guide. This guide teaches you about micro- and macronutrients and where you can find them in plants.
You will also find out how to get enough calories on a plant-based diet which is a big mistake many people do when they start to eat more vegetables.
