Simon: Eleven things in your mouth can increase your cancer risk. But if you eliminate them, you can lower your cancer risk.

In this episode, I'm going to talk about 11 cancer-causing things you shouldn't put in your mouth. Learn why they are bad for your health and why you should avoid them.

Intro jingle: Welcome to the Cancer Wisdom podcast. This podcast teaches you how to treat cancer with natural remedies without using toxic treatments. Discover how to take charge of your health and not be a slave to Big Pharma medicine. Here's your host Simon Persson.

Simon: The first thing I'm going to mention on this list is processed meat and red meat. According to the World Health Organization, processed meat is carcinogenic to humans.

And they classify it as a group one carcinogen, which means it's the worst rating. The organization also said that red meat is probably carcinogenic to humans and is a group 2A carcinogen, which means that it may cause cancer. But it's not on the highest severity scale.

What do I mean by processed meat? Processed meat has been transformed through salting, curing, fermentation, smoking, or other processes to enhance the flavor or improve preservation. Some examples are bacon, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, beef jerky, pepperoni, sausages, fast food, hamburgers, and ham.

Red meat is unprocessed muscle meat from beef,  veal, pork, lamb, mutton, horse, or goat meat. So the World Health Organization said that for every 50-gram portion of processed meat you eat daily,  you increase your colon cancer risk by 18%.

And for every 100-gram portion of red meat that you eat every day,  you increase your cancer risk by 17%. So there are several reasons why meat can increase our cancer risk.

You may get exposed to N-nitroso compounds or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons that form during the cooking or processing of the meat.

Another chemical that can develop when you prepare the meat is heterocyclic amines. You can produce more heterocyclic amines when you barbecue the meat.

Another reason why meat is cancer-causing is because of the high protein. Too much protein overworks and damages the liver and kidney.

Humans are not meant to eat a lot of protein. We may only need about 50 grams of protein per day to function well. And every time you eat too much meat, you override this level.

And the downside of that is that you destroy your liver and cause more cancer. Another dangerous thing in meat is IGF-1, or insulin growth factor one, which is a growth hormone that we need, especially at the beginning of life when we need to grow.

But as we grow older, there's no need to grow anymore, and therefore any excess IGF-1 in our body will only increase our cancer risk,  especially breast and prostate cancer.

Saturated fat is another thing that is not good for our bodies. Saturated fat is hard at room temperature,  and studies have shown that too much saturated fat can increase our risk of prostate cancer and breast cancer.

Another thing we shouldn't get too much of from meat is cholesterol. Cholesterol is a natural thing that our liver produces every day. There's nothing wrong with cholesterol, but too much added cholesterol in your blood is bad for you.

Humans are meant to eat plants because our bodies are built to eat them. And plants contain very little fat and no cholesterol. So by eating more plants, you can avoid getting too much cholesterol in your blood and therefore lower your risk of diseases.

Another thing in meat that is bad for us is heme iron. There are two types of iron, heme iron from meat and iron from plants. When we eat heme iron from meat, we increase our cancer risk, but the iron from plants doesn't have that effect.

Estrogen in meat can also increase our risk of breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. One thing that can increase our cancer risk is free radicals which are waste substances in the body when it processes food or react to the environment.

Antioxidants prevent or slow down the damage caused by free radicals. Your antioxidant levels go down when you eat meat and cause more oxidative stress. But if you eat more plants, especially berries, you can increase your antioxidants in your blood and thereby reduce your cancer.

Meat can also cause hormone disruption and thereby increase your risk of cancer. Animal products also cause inflammation. Inflammation is a normal process that the body uses to respond to injuries or illnesses.

When we eat food that is not good for us, the body uses inflammation to protect itself. The inflammation that you get from animal products is a sign that your body is toxic and can increase your cancer risk.

Another major ingredient in animal fats from meat is arachidonic acid. Arachidonic acid creates prostaglandin, which is an inflammatory compound that is part of colon cancer, lung cancer, and head and neck cancer.

In this podcast episode, I will only talk about some of the animal products that can increase your cancer risk. So every animal contains all the things that I mentioned before and other things.

So one food that you shouldn't eat is fish. It contains the same problems that I discussed before, plus mercury. Mercury is a natural substance that we can find in the environment.

Factories can spread mercury into the air and it can also accumulate in streams and oceans. And the ocean can therefore contain methylmercury. Fish absorb the methylmercury as they dwell in these waters.

So mercury is one of the most toxic substances in the world, and by eating fish you get exposed to mercury. We have often heard that we need omega-3 from fish to be healthy. But you don't need to eat fish to get omega-3. So where do fish get their omega-3? So they eat algae which are plants.

You can get your daily omega-3 from plants and don't need to eat fish. For example, do you know that you can get your daily amount of omega-3 by eating one tablespoon of crushed flaxseeds?

Another thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth is chicken. The poultry industry feeds these birds with everything from arsenic to Prozac.

And thanks to our lawsuit from the Center for Food Safety and other consumer groups, three out of four arsenic-containing drugs fed to these birds have been banned from the market. Arsenic is a cancer-causing heavy metal.

Obesity can increase our cancer risk. Our obesity can increase by  18% for every 1% increase in calories from red meat, poultry, fish, or shellfish.

In 1896, the USDA determined that chicken contained about 23% protein and less than 2% fat by weight. But today, chicken contains ten times more fat than it did over a century ago.

About 70% of calories from chicken may come from fat. These birds have been genetically manipulated to contain more protein and fat.

So eating chicken has the same impact as consuming beef, as they contain about the same amount of cholesterol as beef and fish. Switching from red meat to white meat doesn't give you any benefit.

Another thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth is eggs. A whole egg contains about 32% protein,  and the white part contains about  100% protein.

Egg whites are high in sulfur-containing amino acids such as methionine, and these acids are unhealthy. Eggs also contain the most amount of cholesterol of any food.

And as I mentioned before, too much cholesterol in your body increases your cancer risk. So the more eggs that you eat,  the more likely you are to get cancer.

Consuming five eggs a week can increase the risk of dying from prostate cancer by 47%. And women that eat five eggs a week can also increase their cancer risk.

And when you fry eggs, you also create heterocyclic amines, which I already mentioned in this episode. In the Harvard Nurses Health Study, which is one of the longest-running studies, they found that the daily consumption of cholesterol found in a single egg cut a woman's life as much as smoking five cigarettes a day for 15 years. Eggs also contain a lot of saturated fat, which is not good for our bodies.

Number five on this list is dairy. So dairy is food for calves and not humans. For the longest time, I believed that cows always produced milk. But then I found out that a cow can only produce milk when it is pregnant. Therefore farmers always make sure that cows are pregnant by taking sperm and inserting it artificially in a cow.

And after the birth of their calf, the farmer removes the calf from the mother and then milks the mother and gives the calf a milk formula.

If you look at milk, it contains almost three times more protein or four times more calcium than human milk. So this food is meant to grow a calf from 60 pounds to 600 pounds in a short time.

Dairy products are one of the leading reasons we have excess body fat. Dairy is like liquid meat. It contains all the bad things that I mentioned before from meat, such as fat, cholesterol, IGF-1, and hormones.

So we have often heard that dairy creates strong bones. But countries that drink a lot of dairy have more osteoporosis than other countries that don't consume a lot of dairy, such as Japan.

Osteoporosis is a condition where the bones become weaker. When you consume a lot of dairy, your body becomes more acidic. And your body always wants to keep you alkaline by taking calcium from the bones, but that causes more osteoporosis.

Another sub-category of dairy is cheese. So cheese contains about 70% fat and it's also high in sodium and has more cholesterol than a steak. And it's extremely fattening.

The sixth thing that you shouldn't put in your is vegetable oils. Vegetable oils can increase our risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Oils contain 100% fat and are fattening and have almost no nutrients, and are a highly processed food. Vegetable oils are the most calorie-dense substance that you can eat. Some studies link acrylamide in french fries to endometrial, ovarian, and lung cancer.

So manufacturers produce oils by taking a whole food, such as a nut or seed, and then crushing it. And the end product is the oil. So you can do this process in two ways: heating up the produce and squeezing out the oil or using a mechanical process.

The extraction process removes most of the ingredients of the whole food, and the air also causes oxidation, which removes the nutrients from the oil.

There might be some nutrients the second after you have produced the oil. But most of the oils will stand on a food shelf for months, and therefore, you will not find any nutrients in the oil.You should also avoid margarine because it's made using hydrogenated oils.

Processed oil is the worst kind of oil, but oil produced by a mechanical process, such as olive oil or coconut oil, is not much better. So, therefore, you should avoid them.

Oils are what white sugar is to carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the main component of vegetables and fruits. Carbohydrates contain different kinds of sugars.

When you produce white sugar, you remove the fibers from the sugar beet and process the remaining sugar, so therefore, there are no nutrients left in white sugar. And the same thing happens in oils. Oils contain 100% fat and nothing more from the plant.

So the reason why many people say that we should avoid white sugar is that it contains no nutrients and is highly processed. And when you eat it, your blood sugar levels rise quickly. If we avoid white sugar, we should also avoid oil because it's as processed as sugar.

The seventh thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth is packaged foods. Packaged food almost always contain unhealthy ingredients such as preservative, colorants, artificial flavors, and texturants.

The preservatives prevent the food from rotting. By using preservatives, you can keep the food more fresh than you ever could. Colorants give food a specific color, and artificial flavors give food a particular flavor.

They can make processed food taste great. Processed food contains very little essential nutrients compared to whole food. And these foods also contain unhealthy things such as white sugar and Aspartame, which is a substitute for sugar and can be more harmful than it.

Aspartame can increase our risk of brain cancer. You can find this artificial sweetener in sodas. And sodas can also have a lot of high fructose corn syrup, which comes from corn and is a highly processed sweetener from GMOs. And processed foods can also contain a lot of oils and fat.

Another thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth is GMOs. GMOs stand for Genetically Modified Organism. So you create a GMO by taking genes from species and then inserting them into other species.

So therefore, you can create food that's not possible in nature. You shouldn't confuse genetic engineering with traditional breeding. Traditional breeding is when you, for example, mate a pig with another pig to get a new variety.

Or take two types of potatoes to create another kind of potato. With genetic engineering, scientists can change the DNA of an organism, which is not possible in nature. And when you create this new organism, you can have new side effects that are impossible to predict or control.

This process can create new toxins or allergens. Manufacturers that create GMOs change the DNA of the GMO to tolerate herbicides.

Farmers usually buy GMO seeds together with the company's corresponding herbicide. Therefore, you cannot mix other herbicides with the same GMO. For example, the former company, Monsanto, created a herbicide called Roundup. Roundup can only be used on Monsanto's GMOs.

The most popular herbicide is Roundup, which contains the active ingredient glyphosate. And according to the World Health Organization, glyphosate is probably carcinogenic. There have been several cases now where people have gotten cancer by using Roundup.

So Monsanto got into several lawsuits after Bayer bought the company. There is no good human GMO feeding study. So we can't know if  GMOs are safe. So, therefore, we can get new diseases that we didn't have before.

The FDA is supposed to make sure that food and drugs are safe. This organization says that if the makers of GMO foods claim that they are safe, the agency doesn't object.

You can't patent vegetables or food under normal circumstances. But the funny thing is that you can patent GMOs. But if you can patent GMOs, then it cannot be a natural substance. The FDA says that GMOs are Generally Recognized As Safe or GRAS.

But if the company that produces the GMO seeds has changed the DNA, then can we know they are safe? In the U.S., there are three major crops that are GMOs, such as soy, corn, or cotton.

So almost 98% of the canola oil that comes from Canada is genetically engineered. Over 95% of sugar beets produced in the U.S. are GMOs.

You can also find GMOs in sweet corn,  papayas, zucchini, and yellow summer squash. One easy way to avoid GMOs is by eating organic food. Organic food cannot contain GMOs according to the law.

The ninth thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth is soy protein isolate. It's a highly refined or purified form of soy protein.

This powder contains almost 100% protein from soy. You can find it in protein powders and health drinks for muscle building and weight loss. You can also find this substance in infant soy formulas and some soy milk.

Soy protein isolate can also be found in vegetarian meats such as burgers and sausages, energy snack bars, soy cheese, and soy desserts like pudding and ice cream.

So ordinary soy products from whole foods such as soy sauce tofu, miso, and soybeans do not cause cancer and can actually prevent cancer.

The tenth thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth if you want to avoid cancer is alcohol. Alcohol is one of the biggest public health problems in the United States. According to the CDC, six people die from alcohol poisoning every day.

The World Health Organization has also concluded that all alcoholic beverages are carcinogenic to humans. Alcohol can increase the risk of pancreatic cancer, melanoma, mouth cancer, throat cancer, esophageal cancer, voice box cancer, and breast cancer.

Alcohol causes about 5.8% of all cancer deaths in these organs worldwide. One particularly dangerous substance is acetaldehyde in alcohol. It's the most carcinogenic, alcoholic metabolite in these beverages. Even light drinking can have a negative effect on your body.

In one meta-analysis of studies, they compared light drinkers to non-drinkers. They found out that about 5,000 breast cancer deaths a year or due to light drinking.

The Harvard Nurses Study also found that a single drink per day of alcohol may lead to a modest increase in cancer.
Any level of alcohol consumption can increase your risk of developing cancer.

Cancer is a toxicity crisis of the body, and the most important organ to detox the body is the liver. And when you drink alcohol, you destroy your liver and make you worse at dealing with cancer. And that's why many doctors tell their cancer patients to avoid alcohol.

The final thing that you shouldn't put in your mouth is cigarettes. This is not a big surprise because it's well-known that cigarettes cause many types of cancer and chronic lung diseases.

So cigarettes damage your entire cardiovascular system. Smoking raises your blood pressure and weakens your blood vessels, and increases your risk of getting blood clots.

Another dangerous thing found in cigarettes is carbon monoxide, which you can inhale when you smoke a cigarette.

This gas can also be found in heaters in your homes. And there have been incidents where the heater leaked this toxic gas in the house or around the swimming pool, and people started to get sick, and some even died.

Tobacco smoke contains many different bad chemicals that are harmful to both smokers and non-smokers, such as arsenic and nickel, which prevent you from repairing your DNA. Among the 250 known chemicals found in tobacco smoke, at least 69 can cause cancer.

Cigarettes can lead to 13 types of cancer, especially in the mouth, throat, larynx, and esophagus. Smokers are also known to have higher amounts of pancreatic cancer, and they also have more lung cancer than non-smokers.

You might believe using different filters or smoking low-tar cigarettes can decrease your cancer risk, but there's no difference.

The more cigarettes that you smoke per day, the more likely you are to get cancer in your life. Even light or social smoking can harm you.

Long-time smoking affects your cancer risk more than the number of cigarettes that you smoke per day. So, for example, if you smoke a pack of cigarettes for 40 years,   that is more dangerous than smoking two packs of cigarettes for 20 years.
